Asbestos Hazard Awareness

Details

Asbestos are a group of naturally-occuring minerals that were widely used in construction
sectors, in products like cement, insulation, tiles, siding, pipes, and many others. Inhalation of
asbestos fibres can cause cancer and other illnesses. This course will provide participants
information on hazards associated with asbestos, how to identify locations where asbestos may
be present, and legislation that deals with the classification of asbestos work.


Course Content

  • Types 1 and 2 Asbestos regulations
  • Health hazards and control measures
  • Asbestos location and identification in construction

This course does not qualify participants for Type 3 asbestos removal. Any worker or supervisor
who performs Type 3 asbestos work must have successfully completed the Asbestos Abatement
training program approved by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD).
